Double Glazed Windows
What are Double Glazed Windows?
Double Glazed Windows are a sustainable window solution designed to enhance the insulation and energy efficiency of your home.
By double glazing existing windows and doors you can lower the carbon footprint of your home, reduce energy usage and save money!
Double glazed windows differ from standard windows as they are fully sealed window units consisting of two panes of glass that are separated by a gap, generally at least 12mm thick. This gap is filled with argon gas which boosts the insulative properties of the glass even further.
Glass windows have a significant effect on the way a home heats and cools and double glazing your windows can improve home comfortability and offer additional advantages.

Advantages of Double Glazed Windows
Double glazed windows offer a range of advantages for both homeowners and our environment.
Key benefits of double glazed windows include:
Enhanced insulation: double glazed windows are up to 75%% more efficient than single-pane glass in reducing heat transfer. This enables your home to stay warmer in colder months and stay cooler during warmer weather. It also removes ‘cold spots’ near your windows, giving a more consistent temperature throughout your home.
Reduction in energy usage & costs: by reducing heat loss and heat gain, double glazed windows can lessen reliance on heating and cooling systems and help you to cut back on your energy bills.
Added security: double glazed windows are more durable than standard windows, making them more difficult to break. DIY Double Glaze offers a range of toughened double glazed glass that offer superior intrusion resistance.
Noise reduction: perceived noise levels can be reduced by up to 50% and a further 30% with our Hush laminate glass.
Reduction in condensation: double glazed windows provide an insulating barrier that significantly reduces the temperatures required for condensation to form. Condensation can encourage the build up of mould and mildew.
Compatibility: our retrofit double glazed glass units are compatible with any existing timber or aluminum window frames.
