I had retrofit double glazing installed in my ground floor apartment back in June 2024 (yes, this review was long overdue) and the results have been fantastic! From the initial consultation to the final installation, the entire process was smooth and professional. Robin and Mark were my main contacts, very knowledgeable and friendly, gracious in educating me about U-values and the best material options available. This helped me make an informed decision on the best solution for my home.The difference in comfort and noise reduction has been remarkable. My apartment feels warmer in winter and noticeably quieter, especially from street noise. The quality of the workmanship is excellent, with the new double glazing seamlessly matching my existing window frames.The installation team was punctual, efficient, and diligently removed as much broken glasses as they can and vacuumed the surrounding areas after the job was done. Pricing was competitive, and I truly feel like I got great value for money. I also appreciate their attention to detail and commitment to customer satisfaction.Just to show their workmanship, I've attached photos with the raw timber beading they've added. I highly recommend DIY Double Glazing. The team came out and measured my windows very quickly, and the provided me a quote within a few days of first contacting them. The quote was less than 1/4 of the price of replacing the windows frames, and the process was very easy. Once I made the order, we organised a delivery date for the windows, and the driver was very friendly and punctual.I replaced the glass in two double hung windows. It was about 1 day worth of work. The lead time for the glass was about 2 weeks, so the whole project was ordered and installed within one month, much quicker than all the other alternatives.I chose to do the installation myself, and it is definitely doable for those with a bit of experience on the tools.It has already made a huge difference in terms of temperature, and noise levels, and now that the windows are painted, you can't see any difference.

Been looking to upgrade our windows to double glazed windows for a while and we looked at multiple uPVC options until we found DIY double glaze. Mark was very knowledgeable during the consultation and the resulting quote in utilising our existing timber frames was a significant cost savings over even thee cheapest uPVC quote. The other positive was that DIY double glaze had a lead time of 6-8 weeks whilst uPVC options were looking at 6 months!The job was performed professionally and the team on site were friendly and accommodated our needs. The install occured over multiple days as we had quite a few windows to change out including double hung sash windows. The result is amazing and we really can feel the difference, having to use less heating/cooling with a real improvement on sound insulation as well. Last but not least, my windows are not sweating anymore, so there is no more build up of moisture at the base of the glass, significantly deterring mould growth.If you are considering a cost effective option to save on utility bills, reduce noise and eliminate mould from the windows, I'd highly recommend Retrofit/DIY double glaze and their amazing product and service. 10/10 from start to finish.

Cannot recommend DIY Double Glaze highly enough. We had 6 sash windows and 2 timber frame sliding doors fitted with new glass, and they did an incredible job maintaining the aesthetic of our old home and didn’t leave a trace of dust behind.From the first measure and quote visit through to 3 days and 5 different workers to complete the job every single person involved was professional, friendly and respectful of our home. Everyone could confidently explain the process and solve any surprises that arose without issue.We’ve noticed the difference in temperature immediately, could not be happier with the results!

I have just completed double glazing 19 windows on our home using DIY Double Glaze panels. The quality of the product and level of support from DIY Double Glaze is outstanding. From their comprehensive and detailed quotation and excellent communication, and 10 year warranty, to their ontime delivery and support, with a day's training and assistance on the project, all went smoothly and all window panels fitted perfectly. A highly recommended way to retrofit double glazing to your home at a reasonable cost if you have timber windows.Mark is extremely knowledgeable and provided great tips on obtaining a professional result. (btw, suggest you buy a $95 Chinese brad gun on eBay for the job ( the Makita equivalent is $550!). The cheap gun works a treat.)Our house is unbelievably quieter and warmer since installing.

Fantastic work on our house in Preston. The guys essentially rebuilt the whole window and sash mechanisms, installed new double glazing panels, and some custom draught sealing. All looks super neat and noticed the difference in temp straight away. Polite, very respectful of my home and couldn't be happier with the result - highly recommended

The team from DIY Double Glaze was amazing and the result is what we were hoping for. We bought our 20-year-old house two years ago and while the windows were in a reasonable condition for what they were (wooden sash-windows, single-glazing), the poor insulation and gaps were really bothering us. We looked into options for retrofitting as well as entirely new UPVC windows. While no doubt new frames and windows would have achieved an entirely different result and retrofitting can never do that, it's also about four times more expensive. We're talking some serious cash here! For us that wasn't feasible, so we went with retrofitting and are super happy with the result. It's warmer, less drafty (the guys also put additional sealing for those pesky gaps, which in itself helped a lot), we get less condensation and it's also more sound-proof. Aesthetically there's no drawback. We found the DIY team all the way through approachable, super friendly, patient with all our questions, and accommodating. They instantly created a trusting relationship and we felt in the best hands. Highly recommend!

We approached three different companies for double glazing quotes and choose DIY Double Glaze. They were meticulous in measuring our windows and provided a competitive quote with some pricing options for us to choose from. Their reputation is obviously good as we had to wait approx. 3 months before they could start on our job. We chose to have them do all the work i.e. no DIY from us. As the job unfolded we had 4 different crew members working at our home. All were professional, polite with a keen eye on detail. Of course there was some dust, glass / timber fragments etc and they did clean up each day. We are very pleased with the end result and the painting is now underway. More than happy to recommend Mark and his team.

Looks Fantastic and difference in the temperature inside is enormous; much more than I had hoped for! Was not an Easy install but was done perfectly after some effort from the installers. The Guy in the photo is the less shy of the installers on my job in front of my new four windows. I could not be happier and will use them again wherever I can.

I could not recommend Alan and the DIY double glaze team more highly. Alan was friendly, professional, easy to deal with and the cost was substantially cheaper than any other retrofit glazing or secondary glazing option I investigated (and cheaper on the day than originally quoted as the install took less time - honesty rarely found these days). I can't comment on the performance of the windows as yet, but the technical specs are on par or better than the other alternatives I investigated - they are true IGUs with argon gas and low-E coating. I would expect them to be superior to the secondary acrylic options, and a similar price.

Most cost efficient way to get double glazing in a existing dwelling in my opinion. The end result is of a very high level aesthetically (considering it's a retrofit), and thermally I don't believe you could get better (Alan believes his product (via the specific way he gets in manufactured) is actually closer to triple glazing and I believe him).His product, service and professionalism is as the other reviewers have stated, of a very high standard, and of great importance to me, honest and not commercially greedy.I was more than happy to pay for his time to install my windows given I don't have all the time, tools and experience required, however if you do, he provides detailed install instructions for free on his website.Highly recommended.

Alan was very easy to deal with and carefully laid out the details for us to understand. As we wanted noise reduction and thermal improvement, he was able to cater the window order to our needs. I worked with Alan to install the windows, which we did without issue. Even 6 months later when a window seal failed, Alan came over immediately and replaced it.

Alan was great! We had a large room with lots of very large windows to double glaze. Alan provided the windows and installed them with my parter. Total cost was under half of what we had previously been quoted by another company and made it possible for us to do it. Very happy with quality and have already noticed a difference. Alan was also very helpful in suggesting other ways we could improve the efficiency of our home and was very prompt in responding to queries and generally great to deal with. Yes, DIY double glazing is possible for everyday homeowners as long as you have some DIY knowledge and confidence, and basic woodworking skills.
You can get away with some simple hand tools, and select power tools for the installation. We recommend the following: A medium width chisel, rubber mallet, standard hammer, bladed putty knife, silicone gun, a router (we suggest a trim router, as whilst the larger ones are more efficient, they can more easily cause damage due to their power), a brad nail gun, assortment of screwdrivers depending on your hardware. Depending on the scope of the work you need to complete, more tools may be required, get in touch with your specific issues and we will be happy to help!
Timing can vary from person to person, but on average it takes between 1.5-3 hours per pane of glass. This includes removal of old glass and preparing the frames. Double Hung (Sash) windows can take longer as 'glazing cement' is commonly used.
Once an order for glass is confirmed the lead time to ship your new double glazed glass to Gold Coast is 2-4 weeks.
